Spring has sprung and with it comes the start of the awards season in the hairdressing industry and as usual your favourite Wilston hair salon, Fruition, was represented on the hair-trend front line!
First cab off the rank was our Cara, who jetted down to Melbourne to compete in the first ever Shu Uemura Muse Image Award competition – one of only five finalists from around Australia and the only Brisbane hairdresser.
Cara had to create a look around the theme of Tokyo Vibe. She had this to say, “My inspiration stems from the daring fashionista on the streets of Tokyo combined with a piece of Tokyo’s unique heritage. This is my interpretation of iconic Japanese fashion designers who use folds, curvy silhouettes and sharp edges combined with elements of Tokyo’s culture and history. I have tried to mimic these aspects of Japanese fashion in my hair design with a splash of saffron to represent the Buddhists monks robes and the temples which are typical to Asakusa – the district known for the oldest temples in Tokyo”.
Our Wilston hairdresser Cara wasn’t crowned the overall winner but her work was featured on vogue.com.au. alongside the other finalists and she took home a six-month supply of Shu Uemura products and of course, the additional knowledge and experience that such a final brings.
Cara, along with several other members of the Wilston hair salon, will shortly be shooting their collections for next year’s Australian Hair Fashion Awards – the biggest awards of our industry. This year Fruition bagged two of the top prizes, so here’s hoping we can keep up our award-winning salon streak and help keep Brisbane’s top hairdressers and hairdressing team on the map!
